Barbie goes real?

Really Barbie?

I want to take a moment to celebrate the people that really understands that the barbie-doll has been more than a doll to most people growing up. She was somehow a role model for your own life and how you should look and act! She has probably caused as much pain as joy with here skinny body, perfect makeup, "white" skin and shiny, long, blonde hair.

I love Barbie! Shes beautiful! But I´m a grownup, I understand that its not possible to look like her! Kids don´t...

So I want to tell you about these people!

Nickolay Lamm and the Lammily doll

"That’s why graphic designer turned toymaker Nickolay Lamm created the Lammily doll — what the Barbie would look like if she actually had the measurements of an average 19-year-old woman’s body (based on CDC data). And brown hair. (She also comes with a sticker-extension pack, complete with cellulite, freckles and acne, but we’ll get to that later.)"

Sonia Singh

I love Sonia for her initiative to change childrens view on how a normal face looks. They get a more healthy picture of the expectations of how we have to look to be good enough.

"Tree Change Dolls™ are the creations of Tasmanian artist Sonia Singh. The dolls have been rescued and rehabilitated from op-shops and tip shops around Tasmania. These lil fashion dolls have had a lifestyle change, swapping their high-maintenance high-fashion habits for down-to-earth style. Sonia hand repaints the dolls faces, molds new feet or shoes, and her mum sews and knits their clothing."

Barbie Mattel

Yepp! Last ones to jump on the "normal train" is Mattel! Maybe they feel the pressure? Maybe they see the $$$-signs...? But it doesn't matter WHY they are doing it because if they can help changing girls (and boys) vision of themselves, they are doing a good thing for society! We have never and will never look the same

And we will never look like the "old" barbie.

Be beautiful by being you!
