Noel Cruz re-paints faces!

Re-paints faces like no one else!

This is Noel Cruz! I first saw his work on instagram where his incredible talent to get faces to come to life struck me. He sell his creations on Ebay and the prices go high!

Here's a presentation from his own page;

"Noel Cruz is one of the most versatile & distinguished repaint artists in the doll community. He is most recognized for his character & celebrity based dolls due to their uncanny resemblance to the people they portray. His dolls are derived from several models like Gene, Tyler, Sydney, etc, by various doll-makers such as Robert Tonner & Franklin Mint. His repaints as well as his portraits are done with intricate detail to the point of being naturally lifelike in essence. Highly regarded among collectors and artists alike, Noel attempts to raise the bar and bring a fresh take to the common mass produced doll with every face he paints. Noel's specialty is with one of a kind repaints. The beauty of repaints is that almost no two are exactly alike just as no two artists are alike. What defines Noel's style of repaint is his focus in achieving a sense of both aesthetics and likeness. He has developed this style across hundreds of dolls all ranging from unique & exotic originals to some of the most recognized celebrity faces in history. All his dolls now belong to the personal collections of their proud owners."

Here's a few of his beautiful doll-creations! I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

A pack of shoes, about 50 pairs goes for around 5-10 USD (AliExpress)

Even with matching handbags!

These packs cost about 3-5 USD (AliExpress)

If you want to take it one step further...

A pair of these beauties can go for many USD... The prices I found were 110-250 USD

YouTube tutorials

These are some of my favorite doll-related tutorials!

  1. Denisa Medrano
As you know, this woman is a big inspiration to me! She shows all you need to know about doll hair! On her channel she takes you with her into the industry and show you how it works in the mass production. She also have her Instagram where she has a competition #helpthispoorgirl.

    "
#HELPTHISPOORGIRL is an Instagram based contest where contestants send me dolls with yucky hair. I reroot the selected winner's dolls, style them and send them back" - Denisa Medrano

  2. Tree Change Dolls artist Sonia Singh
Sonia is a big part of the "normal"-movement as I see it! Her repainting of dolls with TOO MUCH make up is showing kids a more normal standard of girls. Shes saving used dolls from the trash can and giving them a new life and a new face! As you know; I love that! Here is her most watched video!

  3.  MD fashion

This girl is showing different Barbie clothes and how to do them.
The videos are simple to follow and not to fast!
I really like when you can see someone else do it so I know I'm doing it right but we are all different in how we learn! ;)

Free barbie patterns

Where do I find the free patterns?

I struggled for a long time to find GOOD patterns that didn't cost. I mean, we are so many Barbie-nerds in this world, why not share our favorite tricks, webpages, stores, dolls, what we made and those damn patterns?

I have found some good pages that I want to share with you fellow nerds! ;)

  • Molendrix - A very basic page, easy to find what you're searching for! A lot of beautiful clothes and patterns. The style range is very wide, from old, old up to modern clothes! Cool!
  • Sweet Living is a free magazine online that put up these really nice patterns! It in crochet and so cute!
  • Sewing solutions have over 200 free patterns for Barbies! (200!!!) They also have cloth-patterns for the whole human family!
  • Pinterest - Here comes my favorite! Pinterest is the easiest way to find patterns, tips and solutions. Write your search word and you get options on your screen. Click on the one you like and you'll get directed to the homepage you were searching for! Perfect! :)
Enjoy your search! :)

Reroot your doll!

Reroot a doll with bad hair

Reroot your dolls hair means basically to put new hair on her! A doll that has been played with and/or been put away for years often have damaged hair. Maybe you decided she needed a haircut? ;) (I know I did...)
Or like in this case, she wasn't  stored right and her hair had molded and fell off...
So I´m giving this cutie blonde, straight hair. BUT this hair can take heat so I can style it to sweet, blonde curls! :)
It takes patience, concentration and time but its really fun!
You can find doll hair on pages like
  • My Little Customs They have basically everything you need for rerooting and more!
  • Retro Dolls Europe They have basically every hair kind you want! There is also good information for the beginner about how you do the different techniques, how much hair you need and so on. Really one of my favorites!
  • Aliexpress my absolute favorite! At Ali you have to know what you are looking for so I don't recommend it to beginners. But it's much cheaper than here in Sweden so I love it!
I also recommend this video!

Here's what I've done so far!

The makeover result!

The results of Petras makeover!

The details are always the funniest and they are the piece that makes or breaks the outfit! ;)
Petra got another pair of shoes, it was to much pink even for me! Her purse was once baby blue. I painted it with my secret weapon; nail polish! The purse, bracelet and hairband is decorated with pink rhinestones that you can buy at almost any scrapbooking store or arts-and-crafts store. Or Ebay!
For example Panduro, a cherry on top, Scrapbook.comSvensk Scrapbooking(swedish)Pysseltagen.se(swedish)Kristinas Scrapbooking(swedish) but my absolute favorite is AliExpress!

Doll accessories

Spa day for Petra

Today this lovely rescue Petra doll is getting new accessories! I´m making her a bracelet and a headband I think! For now i have used some pliers and metal wire! The result is coming up!

Btw the shoes is painted with nail polish! I bought a mixed-color 100-pack on AliExpress really cheap and painted my own designs! Go check the site out! But I´m warning you, it´s addictive... ;)

Barbie goes real?

Really Barbie?

I want to take a moment to celebrate the people that really understands that the barbie-doll has been more than a doll to most people growing up. She was somehow a role model for your own life and how you should look and act! She has probably caused as much pain as joy with here skinny body, perfect makeup, "white" skin and shiny, long, blonde hair.

I love Barbie! Shes beautiful! But I´m a grownup, I understand that its not possible to look like her! Kids don´t...

So I want to tell you about these people!

Nickolay Lamm and the Lammily doll

"That’s why graphic designer turned toymaker Nickolay Lamm created the Lammily doll — what the Barbie would look like if she actually had the measurements of an average 19-year-old woman’s body (based on CDC data). And brown hair. (She also comes with a sticker-extension pack, complete with cellulite, freckles and acne, but we’ll get to that later.)"

Sonia Singh

I love Sonia for her initiative to change childrens view on how a normal face looks. They get a more healthy picture of the expectations of how we have to look to be good enough.

"Tree Change Dolls™ are the creations of Tasmanian artist Sonia Singh. The dolls have been rescued and rehabilitated from op-shops and tip shops around Tasmania. These lil fashion dolls have had a lifestyle change, swapping their high-maintenance high-fashion habits for down-to-earth style. Sonia hand repaints the dolls faces, molds new feet or shoes, and her mum sews and knits their clothing."

Barbie Mattel

Yepp! Last ones to jump on the "normal train" is Mattel! Maybe they feel the pressure? Maybe they see the $$$-signs...? But it doesn't matter WHY they are doing it because if they can help changing girls (and boys) vision of themselves, they are doing a good thing for society! We have never and will never look the same

And we will never look like the "old" barbie.

Be beautiful by being you!

My Barbie bride

Say hello to the Barbie bride!

She is a 80´s barbie from the beginning so her hair is very big and fluffy. It doesn't fit a bride I think so I made it a bit more elegant with this hairdo which is my first one.
Her underskirt is made of many layers of lace so the dress gets a nice volume! The dress itself is sewn in crushed plush fabric. Very nice texture and easy to work with because its stretchy but looks a lot like velvet!  The "diamonds" are glued on. she even got new diamonds on hear earrings and on her wedding ring! Its hard to get all the details in the photos!

I hope you like her as much as I do! And if there is anything you wonder, just make a comment bellow!
